The year-end chaos had officially peaked. It was December 22nd, and I was literally buying pants on the way to the airport to spend the holiday with family, mentally drafting my holiday cheer while simultaneously stressing about my missing festive attire. Turns out, in his own rush a week prior, my husband Jim had brought my favorite black pants to work for coaching an evening basketball game, thinking they were his. When he discovered they were not, he did what any logical person would do: left them hanging on a hook in his office – and then promptly forgot to mention a thing about them. (He coached that game in sweats btw)
So there I was, still reeling from the last-minute work deadlines I’d just squeezed in, fuming at Jim (and myself for my last-minute tendencies), frantically calling White House Black Market. ‘Yes, I need my favorite pants, in my size, and please God have them in “tall”. Here’s my credit card number!” The poor sales associate probably thought I was deranged, but agreed to meet me at the mall entrance for the hand-off. 5 Stars to WHBM! It was a scene straight out of a bad rom-com, and it was all because I hadn’t given myself a moment to breathe as the year wound down. That day, I vowed: never again would I let the holidays turn into a pants-less, airport-bound, mall-entrance-rendezvous-fueled nightmare. My sanity, my wardrobe, and my marriage deserved better.
There’s a myth that the end of the year is all about pushing harder to “finish strong.” But for many solo service providers, the final quarter feels more like survival mode: chasing deadlines, squeezing in client work, and trying to stay afloat through the holidays.
If that’s you, I’m giving you a pass to leave the chaos behind! We’ve talked about it before: more hustle doesn’t automatically mean more results (especially if your business feels scattered behind the scenes).
Momentum comes from focused intention and strategic actions. And right now is the perfect time to build your plan for profit and peace moving into 2026.
Let’s look at three ways to do that, starting with one of the most important (and overlooked) months of the year.
1. November Is Your Power Window: Use It Wisely
There’s still time to get intentional before the end-of-year whirlwind kicks in, but that window is closing fast.
If you want December to feel spacious (instead of chaotic), November is where you focus. Not on launching something new. Not on adding more to your plate. But on tying up loose ends, setting boundaries, and prepping your business to coast into the new year.
Here’s what to prioritize this month:
- Identify what needs to be completed by mid-December and what can wait
- Communicate holiday hours, time off, and deadlines early and clearly to clients and partners
- Create a short list of client or admin tasks you can batch now to reduce end-of-year stress
The more proactive you are in November, the more freedom you’ll have in December to finalize 2026 planning, recharge, and actually enjoy the season.
2. Ditch the Busywork
More money doesn’t fix a scattered business. But less clutter often does. If your calendar is full but your goals still feel out of reach, it’s time for the STOP LIST exercise.
Here’s how it works:
- List out the tasks, commitments, offers, and habits that drain your energy
- For each one, ask: Does this move me toward the business I want next year?
- If not, pause it, delegate it, or delete it
This approach is similar to my old standby DDSS method, which you can read more about in a previous blog post. By filtering your time effectively, you’ll feel like you have more hours in the day. This is how you create more time, space, and satisfaction in your business without burning out.
3. Create Breathing Room and Build Momentum
December can be both peaceful and profitable, but only if you plan for it.
Here are a few ways to set yourself up for both:
- Audit your calendar and offers: What can you wrap by early December? Where do you need firmer boundaries?
- Batch and prep content or outreach now: Whether you’re promoting Q1 offers or sending client gifts, front-load it in November.
- Start planning for 2026 and protect that time.
Block off at least two sessions this month to reflect, dream, and outline your goals for next year. (Hint: One of them could be attending my free Streamlined Success for 2026 Masterclass on November 25th!) Then, you’ll be able to finalize 2026 planning in December. Just don’t let anything else steal that planning space.
You’re Closer Than You Think.
By focusing on planning and a few strategic actions this month, your business can run on focus, intention, and the kind of momentum that doesn’t require burnout (or a lack of pants) at the end of the year.
Now is the perfect time to:
